Old and new in the inner city of Utrecht

This guided tour focuses on 20th century architecture in the city centre of Utrecht. The route links up projects of architects who made a prominent contribution to the architecture in Utrecht, such as Mart van Schijndel, well-known projects by Sluijmer & Van Leeuwen like the metal house built on the smallest plot in Utrecht.

The tour will also visit an apartment building by Belgian architect Bob van Reeth, which is especially designed to fit the historical situation, a church yard, and incorporates the archaeological finds dating from the medieval period. During the tour the focus will be on the refurbishment plans of West 8 for Neude square and surrounding buildings such as the Neude tower (H.A. Maaskant, 1960), the main post office (J. Crouwel, 1924), the town hall (Enric Miralles, 2000) and the municipal theatre by W.M. Dudok (1941).
